I played Witcher 3 when it came out and for several years afterwards. Unfortunately I never downloaded a copy of the Game of the Year version they at one time offered before they removed it and replaced it with the ultimate edition which I'm not interested in. I'm happy to stay with my original version however things are quite confusing now as they have made changes to the download section of the game. In my library I have a standard Witcher 3 and now also a Ultimate Edition which again I have no interest in.

On the left hand side under offline installers within the standard version in my library are sixteen parts. However on the right hand side under extras there are files labeled "Classic" version. I'm assuming that this is the very, very original version of the game. Is that correct? There are also files for the classic expansions under the extras section too.

What then exactly are the sixteen files on the left hand side? Are they an updated version of the original classic version with important patches or bug fixes? Are these still considered the classic build and are in no way related to the ultimate edition? Again, I don't wish to mess with the ultimate edition as I don't have a card that supports ray tracing and most things I read show that if you don't have raytracing and a higher end gaming monitor its not worth it as it also seems to introduce inferior performance to the original versions.

Thanks for any help on clearing up this confusion.

LHS is Witcher 3 RTX (DX12) and has a DX11 mode with (most) of the non-RTX upgrades in it. Performance may vary in DX12 unless you've got a 40 series card. DX11 may work better.

RHS is the "original" (patched) version of Witcher 3. If you had both add-ons before the release of the RTX upgrade, both sides should include the add-ons.

Thank you pds41 for the information. If the LHS downloads are essentially upgraded with elements from the ultimate edition, what then is the purpose of a separate ultimate edition entry in my game library? Is it essentially the same thing but packaged like a GOTY edition including all of the DLCs and expansions in one large, complete package?

I also just noticed that they do still provide the original GOTY edition under the extras section of the Complete Edition. Is this really the original GOTY edition or have they patched it as well with the upgrades found in the next generation Complete edition? If its the original GOTY edition without the next-generation upgrades that would seem to be the best choice for download for someone wanting just the original classic version of the game with all of the DLC and expansions too would it not?
