It's currently half off on the Humble Store and I'd definitely like to pick it up since I've had wallet funds sitting around on there. However, I remember reading something when I originally installed my retail copy of the base game and activated it on here that It would only be compatible with the expansion pack bought here? Can anyone confirm this?

The Humble page says it's a GOG key, so you will download it from here. So long as you have a GOG account and you have registered your retail copy here -- key inside the box -- you will have access to both the game and the expansion (if you buy it).
