Hi all, got a question regarding my Witcher 3 purchase.

So I have been playing the base game for a while and have not finished it yet, and then I thought I'd get the expansion pass since it's on offer.

After purchasing it, I realized it somehow merged into "Witcher 3: Game of the year edition".

So my question is, how do I install the 2 expansions? Do I install the whole "GOTY" edition?

And if so, will it be like a separate Witcher 3 game from my base game? And how do I continue my progression that way?

Thanks!

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'm playing on the PC

When you install GOTY Edition it automatically installs the two expansion packs (Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine) and also adds in the free DLC that was added to the game.

The two expansion packs can be started by beginning the associated quests in-game. They will have a HOS/BW logo in the quest description in your journal.

I only recently completed the game, I highly recommend leaving B&W until last. Finish the main story first. HOS can be completed during or after the main story, up to you.

Hi there!

First of all thanks for the reply!

Secondly, I already have the base game installed and have yet to finish it, so.. Should I just install the GOTY edition onto my existing base game? Will the saved games (cloud) still work?

Thanks!

Can't comment specifically but I had a similar situation. The Witcher 3 save files are kept in My Documents/ The Witcher 3. They should stay there when you uninstall the game (unless you specify they be removed, it gives you the choice). That save folder syncs with Galaxy cloud saves.

I originally had The Witcher 3 base game + expansions installed via Steam. I uninstalled that, installed the GOG.com 'GOTY Edition' and it saved all of my settings and my savedgames worked fine, despite going from Steam version to GOG version.

I'd assume in your case it'll work fine. You should just notice a couple of in-game notifications about the quests.
