I know you can get both once level 10 from the Herbalist Hut or the Novigrad herbalist, I'm interested in the actual location you can loot it before it becomes available. I'm putting a guide together and both potions are an integral part of it.

I only got both of them in random places, that is in a cave, but not in the treasure chest, but rather in a parcel on the ground.
In fact the best option is to buy them from the herbalist. Gold is fairly useless and you will get loads of it soon enough, meanwhile a bettter swallow potion is worth the price.

I'm still not entirely sure if manuscripts are random or not, because oil recipes certainly are not random, I tested it quite a few times. My take is access to potion recipes might be unlocked by level, this is the case with merchants (I've done the Gremist quest when I was level 8, still only selling a couple enhanced potion recipes (no Swallow or White Raffard in any form plus the odd superior and almost all bomb diagrams).

I don't have any issues with gold, I just want to figure out for the sake of it. I unlocked every single herbalist and alchemy supplier in the game already but none of them sells what I'm looking for.
