I just bought this game the other day and have about 7 hours on it. Having a sudden UI change is quite shocking but overall I do think it looks more organised and I have no issue with that (would be nice if it was optional?)

Here is where it isn't friendly. The new update has removed a specific feature that a new player like myself who isn't familiar with all the items in the game found very useful. This feature being when you loot anything it showed the item's name and below the name it showed what the item's type was being either junk, crafting, a weapon etcetera. Now it just shows the item's name. Is this not a step backwards?

So for me to see if the item was worth picking up I have to open my inventory and check the item out. Many people will think this isn't an issue but for me in an RPG game where looting items is a pretty core part and inventory management is quite important I find this update quite disappointing for this one reason.

Another issue I have seen is how item information doesn't pop up instantly like it did before. You now have to hover over the item and wait half a second. This is also slightly frustrating but no where near as bad as the other problem I mentioned.

Would be nice if someone could give me some insight into why this change was made? Is it intentional or did they just forget it in the new UI? Meh.

TLDR: The feature that showed what the item's type was when looting the item has been removed. Now it just shows the item's name when looting. As a new player I find this feature being removed in this update disappointing.
This isn't an issue for anyone else?

I do miss the old one cause of course I put 200 hours into the game using it and now it changed but eh it almost feels the same just some things are added together side by side and looks like it was more fitted to suit the console people but at the end of the day I spend more time out of that and wrecking monsters.

Just give it time and it will become second nature for you like it did for me.
Agreed, the new UI is definitely a step back in several aspects.

Most glaring one for me has to be the new map and the way you filter out certain icons. What was wrong with being able to switch off/on every icon separately? The categorized approach introduced with 1.21 isn't exactly an improvement over the original one.

Anyone figured out how to bring up the detailed statistics screen yet? If it's still there, that is.
Wouldn't surprise me if it was removed.

Edit: Seems you still can filter out certain things individually, my bad.
And you aren't allowed to bind anything to C or otherwise you can't bring up the player stats screen anymore.
Don't know why you have to be in the inventory to be able to get the stats screen to show up though. Before 1.21 you could be anywhere (bestiary, characters) and could still bring up the player stats at any time.

Another thing I noticed is that they made the small font overall bigger than it used to be. For the inventory and the other screens it's not that bad, but anywhere else, like on NPC names or the NPC chatter it's a little bit too big for my taste.
