I've been gaming for over 30 years (I know...).

The best game I had ever played up until now had been System Shock (not System Shock 2, but the original). The Witcher 3 is now the best game I have ever played, and by a considerable margin.

Thank you guys and girls. This was exceptional and I feel like I have been part of something special.

p.s - I will more than likely buy everything you release from now on. Thanks for your dedication and extreme talent.

cheers.

I've been a little irked lately. Tried playing a few other games for variety, but everything else is feeling very lackluster now. This has definitely spoiled me, and although that's a positive, it does have that negative side as well.

So now I just hit level 20 on my second playthrough.

Hey, I just had an idea! A new Witcher game every year ala Ubisoft and/or EA!
I agree. It's definitely in my top 10 list.
Can't wait for the expansions! If the new quests will be as good as the game we've already got, there won't be anything else like this for sure...
I agree its pretty damn great
I'm playing this since May and I still have to finish this. Honestly, I'm afraid to finish it, because I wouldn't find anything else worthy :) Probably I'll do just as I did with Witcher 2: playing it again and again.

My thoughts as well. I have just completed the game. Truly loved it. As a complete package of gaming and story, this might be the best game ever made. And I have been gaming awhile. I'm still shken from the ending, and my most common thought is "now what?"

I can't even look at another game right now, and I have a few to play. I may have to do another play through. I may even make all the same story choices just for the fuck of it. The exploration will still be unique.

Or maybe I'll go back to Witcher 2, and then play Witcher 3 again. I've forgotten a lot of 2 anyway.

Give the first on a try if you haven't already.

Given the amount of work required to make the game this good, I don't believe that would be possible. And I certainly don't want any Witcher games that are less than this good.

Agreed.

I was just poking some fun at Ubi and EA. :)

Older gamer here as well and I have to say I don't even know what to call The Witcher 3. It's not just a game, it's an experience so to speak. You can make paintings looking at those landscapes. The music is superb, the acting is great (and Geralt is more likable than ever), the combat system is fun, the story is so interesting. I've been playing for quite a while now (I play 1 - 2 hours a day but there were days I played far more and went to work like a zombie but didn't regret). I've put almost 8 days in this game so far. As someone said, I already fear the day I'll finish it (I'm still in Velen because I've been doing all side quests and exploring everything, just won't fight those badass monsters with too high levels), because I'll miss it so much. I know I can replay but usually the first playthrough is the especial one for me. It's more personal, since I make choices based on what I feel with my guts and based on the little information I have about witchers (haven't read the books, only played TW1 and TW2). Right now I'm in love with it. Wonderful game to say the least. Number 1 for me now (ME Trilogy and my female Shepard is now second, KOTOR third). Took me years to change my personal classification but voila.

Finished yesterday :) I got the sad ending, yet it was fantastic.

My thoughts exactly. My first playthrough was 240 hours, maybe that's the reason for me.

Excellent. Not to derail this thread, but the way the endings worked in Witcher 3 changed my interpretation of videogames as an art form. The ending a player gets on a first playthrough is almost completely arbitrary and unpredictable. However, looking back on the factors leading to each of the ending adds new insight into the characters. Like, the simultaneous consideration of all paths through the game, which are mutually exclusive and not possible in traditional narrative art forms, reveal that Geralt acting "protective" towards Ciri was not actually in Ciri's best interest. Or something like that.
