I'm posting here because I don't see a forum for Witcher 3 yet.

Anyhow, I pre-ordered the standard edition of Witcher 3 on Amazon because I wanted the physical box with whatever goodies there might be (I thought it would be like Witcher 1-2).

I noticed today that the Amazon page has been updated to say that the game includes a GOG code which will be e-mailed when the game is released.

Digital GOG Code
Pre-Order Benefits
Delivered by Email

Is this in addition to a physical copy of the game? Or is Amazon only reselling the GOG version?

It does also say, "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com. Gift-wrap available." so I'm hoping that means that it does have a physical version. However that message appears on a lot of pages so I'm not sure if it's just there by default and might not prove anything.

I'd really like to get the physical copy of the game (especially if it has any bonus items in the package) but if Amazon is only going to provide a GOG code and nothing else, then I'll pre-order directly from GOG.

I think a GOG code is for Neverwinter Nights as stated in description - "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt + Pre-Order benefits Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition Code The Witcher comic on Dark Horse Digital Code To be Redeemed On GOG.com"
So I think, you'll get a physical copy of The Witcher 3 and GOG code for Neverwinter Nights. ;)

The Amazon version should be the retail boxed edition, but it could be, that they switched to the digital version because they ran out of "preorder"-stock. E.g. Amazon.co.uk doesn't offer the collector's edition anymore at the moment. On the other hand it could just be a faulty product description as further down the page they state "Media: DVD ROM". I'd be careful and would contact Amazon directly to clarify this.

Just for your information, you don't get a GOG code for the game when you by the retail version. At the time of release CD Project Red isn't planning on offering backup copies of The Witcher 3 on GOG. Retail and digital versions are sold separately.
Thanks :) I did e-mail Amazon and I just heard back that they will send the physical game and once that ships they will e-mail me a code for the pre-order bonus.

I thought that Neverwinter Nights was only a GOG pre-order bonus (it even says here "Only on GOG.com with every pre-order you will get a free copy of Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition") so combined with the somewhat ambiguous description about GOG codes that made me wonder what was going on. And it says the comic is an Amazon exclusive pre-order bonus, which I thought meant that we would be getting a printed copy of it, but if it's just the digital version of the comic then that's in the GOG package too so it's not an Amazon exclusive. The description is rather confusing :S Hopefully they'll edit it and make it more clear when it gets closer to the game's release.

I hope so too. It's confusing at the moment. Anyway, at least you got it sorted, thanks for letting us know. As for the comic, I'm pretty sure it's the digital version, but I'd love to be taught wrong about this ;-)

Yeah, I hope it's the physical copy of the comic too. The image on Amazon's page clearly shows a physical comic book. However the garbled description at the bottom of the page makes it sound like the comic is digital (although I can't tell whether it will be redeemed on GOG or the Dark Horse site, but I'm assuming Dark Horse because that's what the GOG version says here).
