Quick Time Event - basically in a cut scene a message pops up telling you to hit or tap a key

Should stand for Quick Time Encounter. It's those times when you have a limited amount of time to push a specific key.
Thank you very much guys, really :)))

apparently someone who thought that the Oblivious mini-games were a "good idea"(TM)...
Its a moronic game mechanic that developers still insist on using, it's up there with escort missions in the league of annoying things in games. Whoever thought "Press A to not die" was a good idea needs to be beaten to death.

I believe the responsible folks for this are to be found amongst the dev team of Dragon's Lair and Space Ace ;)

Then we need to grab our torches and pitchforks and pay them a visit.

*giggles* I am not certain if those folks are responsible but those two games came to mind as the first ones I can recall using this kind of game mechanics. As a matter of fact those games were about nothing else than QTE - it is what made em famous.
I should note that its still above and beyond what the last game was. One button to punch, one button to dodge. Here you're at least using 4 buttons lol. That and I find the animations far more entertaining than before. Granted I would have liked more control, but in comparison to the last game.
When the first footage of the game was leaked online I campaigned hard on the official forums for them to drop the QTE crap. All I got was a reprimand from the mods. Sorry guys, I tried.
Witcher 2 is a breeze, when compared to Dragon's Lair...
