I'm somewhere around the early stages of Act 2 and I've got a great set of equips with me right now (Arbitrator, Robust Meteorite Sword, Ban Ard Armor), but I'm wondering if I can improve that.

I also have the Kaedweni Jackboots, Herbalist's Gloves, Mage's Trousers, and Kayran Trophy right now. And I found the Mage's Gloves... but the Herb Gloves are better though.

I've read a lot about the best armor and swords... but not about the gloves, boots, and trousers. Do you guys know what are the best ones at this point?

Best Trousers/Boots/Gloves is the Elder Blood set which you can obtain in Act 3 - the schematics for them are hidden in the chests that you unlock while finishing the gargoyle contract. It visually matches the Vran armor.
About the best trophy, I used the one from the Draug until the end of the game, but it really depends on your preference.
I have issues with the trousers and gloves, 'cos I happen to think the DLC ones are the best up 'til elder blood.
(Which is why I refuse to use them. DLC shouldn't break the loot system)

Anyways, insofar as a trophy goes ... I really like the arachas trophy (although it's random drop, so it might not even drop in an entire game).
It's very offensive. Literally.
Adds +3-4 sword damage, and 2 sign damage.
Also adds 25 vitality, but I don't care about that.
So I guess since I'm just in Act 2, I'll stick to my Act 1 boots-trousers-gloves and wait till I run across some stronger ones...

BTW, I fought a troll in the valley and got its trophy. +9 damage... but the Kayran trophy gives +3 armor and +50 Health. Should I go with the Troll's Trophy then?

That ... depends on how often you get hit.
Also depends on the enemies you're fighting. If you find that you're taking down a majority of foes with one fewer hit, then the troll trophy is well worth it.

The value of armor and health bonuses depends on your build, too.
See, if you have an armor build that goes into the triple digits (due to impregnation 2/2 talent and mutagens), and stack damage reduction bonuses, it's quite possible to be able to take some 20+ hits before dying.
If that's the case, then a trophy with +8 armor and no health bonus is much better than +3 armor and 50 health bonus.

Personally, though .. I don't care for playing that way.
I prefer to dish out overwhelming devastation via signs and bombs and what not, slow down time with heliotrope, and simply never get hit.
Depends really on you're build.

I recently played with Deep Magic and rest Sword talents and because I was magic heavy the mage trousers that you get at the beginning of the game(DLC ones) are the best trousers that you can get.I used the mage gloves(from DLC)towards the end because I wanted more Sign Intensity.

If you want a more "tankish" gloves and trousers, you can craft the Elder Blood ones from the gargoyle contract.

Trophy wise: Draug trophy seems to be best overall(Armor + Vitality). If magic specced I would go with Elemental Trophy (15 Vitality 10 Sign Intensity) that I received from the Golem guarding one of the rooms for the gargoyle quest.

Agree with this. Not sure if Elemental Trophy drops all the time though, and boy that Golem is a nasty bitch.

I just did this last evening, and the Elemental Trophy didn't drop for me....
Is there another Golem in Act 3, or is that it?
Depending on your path you get between 2 and 4 cracks at an Elemental trophy (yeah...). So if you really want it, best to save/load until it drops :(

Golem locations (that I know of):

Ch2:
-Tunnels under Kaedweni camp. (both paths)
-Siege of Vergen (Roche only)
-Kingslayer hideout (Roche only)

Ch3:
-Gargoyle contract room (both paths)
-Guardian of Philippa's chest (Iorveth, rescue Philippa only)
Thanks aimlessgun

I am on the Iorveth path, and now I remember the golem in the tunnels under Kaedweni camp. That one dropped a trophy! Explains why the one in Act 3 didn't drop one...
Btw, I have this equipped...

To the OP:
I am still using the DLC gloves and trousers. I still need to do the last the Gargoyle seal to craft the Elder Blood kit.
For boots I currently have the Superb Jackboots looted off one the soldiers at the camp you need to deal with when rescuing Triss.
