im sorry if this is not related to witcher 2 .. but i guess most of u guyz have knowledge abt graphic cards .. so i thought id ask here .. im planning to buy a gtx460 .. n im not sure how long is it gonna last .. i currently have 9800gt n it plays most of my games on high settings .. i even played witcher 2 with no stability issues .. on medium settings ..

my question is shud i really buy this graphic card now or shud i jus wait for a few more months n get a better 1 that wud atleast last for 2-3 years .. ?
It really depends on your point of view and what kind of games you plan on playing (DX 9 , 10 , or 11) . The 460 is a good card imo and there are cards out there that carry a lifetime warranty as well as cards that have 3 year warranty as well...depending on the manufacturer of course .
My only suggestion is if you decide to get a new card be absolutely sure that your power supply can handle the new card and don`t skimp when it comes to power supplies...you definitely get what you pay for .
i wudnt mind playing dx11 games .. n yea i looked up in google abt power supply .. i think ill have 550 watt psu if i buy this card .. ive got all the gpu hungry games there r ... crysis 1 & 2 witcher 2 mafia 2 etc .. n im planing to buy deus ex and skyrim this year .. which i doubt wud run on full settings with my current gpu .. i still wudnt mind playing them on medium setings .. but if i get 460 i think they shud run fine on high .. but will it last for another 2 years n play MOST of the games that will release on high ? if yes then im gonna go ahead n buy it .. if not ill jus wait till my pocket gets filled a little bit more n go for sumthin better .. thanx for replyin

A Radeon 5850 plays Witcher 2 at 1080p, everything maxed except ubersampling, 30-40fps average. DX11, goes for around 100 bucks*. I own one and couldn't be happier with it.

*bitcoin miners permitting. I got mine for 110, but prices fluctuate a lot.

I would suggest that you wait for Nvidia's Kepler series. The GTX600 series. Those will come out at the fourth quarter of the year and that's right when Skyrim is gonna be released. The 600 series will offer better performance for less energy consumption. Till then stick with your 9800 :)
Don`t see any reason why it shouldn`t last 2-3 years providing that no serious overclocking is involved and computer cleaning is done from time to time . Heat will kill even the best of cards not to mention other components .
thanx for the reply ... i did sum search on radeon cards as well ... but i realy find it difficult to switch from nvidia .. ill still see to that card as well
