I'm copy/pasting from another support forum:

I'll go into install detail but that's not where the problem is.

1. Run out of gamestop through the parking lot like a little girl with my copy of The Witcher 2 in hand.

2. Go through install. When it asks for activation, I typed part of the code but it didn't show up.* I hit ok and it proceeded to download a patch.

3. After that was patched it started to download patch 1.2

*4. During step 3 I googled and figured out that the game doesn't like 125% font. I blindly typed my stuff in and typed the key in twice but still said key was wrong. Ugh. Logged off and back in(so text size would change). When I brought up the launcher, the register button was gone. :\

--------------------------------------------------------

Booted up TW2 and the menu looks like this(the Chapter text that says intro even has an annoying prefix)

Menunew
Menuload
Menusettings
Menuextras
Menuquit

MILD SPOILER****************

The main problem is in the intro. The two gaurds point at Geralt and beat him. Some guy then walks in, buys/frees(?) him. Then he extends his hand to Geralt(a handshake I guess). Geralt then proceeds to sit there and alternate between hard and soft looks.

Any ideas what's up?

I have AMD catalyst 11.6 so I don't think drivers are an issue.

I also have an AMD 6950 2GB(nothing on my pc is overclocked). Therefore my hardware is plenty good enough to run the game without this issue. TIA for the help.

Edit: Yes, I know that with 1.2 I don't need to enter my key. Still dunno why the menu is funky and the game won't progress.

Well, by your own admission the installation was buggered up - and the look of the menu proves that. Of course the game won't run properly.

Don't know why you don't uninstall, delete all leftover files and folders and re-install?

Seems like the text (strings) got garbled up in your installation. There was supposed to be a dialogue after Geralt sits down, I think. So if there was something wrong with the string, the dialogue won't trigger and the game goes into a infinite loop.

I agree with Peetz's suggestion that you uninstall and reinstall the game. At least if it still doesn't work by then we can rule out faulty installation as the source of your problem.
