Where do I start.

I completed more than half the quests - and hell's bells, I'm slow - and I've only spent 30 odd hours on the game :(

I was expecting an epic like Witcher 1, where I wound up playing the game and adventuring as Geralt for half a year real time (probably only 300~ hours or so; I played it through 4.5 times)

The combat is not introduced very well, there's too many woops, you're dead in the introduction. Deaths that you can only get through by try, try, try again. You can't go into a situation smartly (in the introduction) and be reasonably certain of winning.

The new skill trees are interesting, but explained in an abominable fashion - you don't find out the rules about mutagens till it's too late.

The map system is horrible, a vast step back from the first game. The terrain is laid out in such a way as to slow you down and force you to take wrong turns - very irritating when you get to a bunch of bushes between you and your objective, and you can't just walk through them like in real life.

Alchemy and weapon oils are nearly impossible to use due to their short timers, and the sheer freaking weight of all your crap.

The inventory: everything weighs an insane amount. There is no sort button for the junk so you're stuck strolling through a list looking for each piece of useless crap you picked up so far.

Crafting looks useful on the outset, but you can't see your traps hardly at all, meaning you're the one who triggers them, not your prey. The crafted gear is thrown at you but there's no way to sort the crafting diagrams into some sort of order.
Dreeadful.

Portions of the story telling are beautiful - in particular segments of the romancing of Triss.
But on the whole, any spot you've got problems, it seems the only way through is the thug way - beat'em up.
The whole feel of many of the quests is pointless posturing.
And there's several irritating, rigid, "choose X or Y" - you can't do both, even tho you should be able to hatch a plan for it.
And like uncle says, One more thing! there's no neutral option.
I really liked how in The Witcher, there was a way to be neutral, to earn friends from both sides of the fighting. It's what I loved most about it, I suspect.
I never get a real choice to stay out of their problems, or to kill both sides if they're trying to force the issue.
The game tries to make me feel guilty because I allowed a king to die - he was a rapist who couldn't control his underlings. Screw you king henselt. If I'd've had the option to gut you myself I would have.

All in all, this is not the game promised to us in the trailers.
I believed in CD Projekt because of how well they did the witcher. I preordered to show my support.
I won't preorder from them ever again - they're no better than mass effect. At least mass effect 2 kept me entertained for a few months.

Seneschul
Bye, I'm sure not supporting a game like this will only have better things come in the future!
There are saying goes; "You lose some, you gain some".

I don't think there are any living creature in the world could satisfy all parties. Is it good for you that you enjoy Mass Effect.
WOW, idiots are everywhere, the story is getting praise everywhere for a reason, Op is an idiot, or maybe a bioware troll. Maybe its to complex for your IQ to understand.

Guy is a bioware troll, Mass effect is a kdis, Me 2 the whole story is getting a team ready for the end battle. WOW, deep stuff. There are more twists and turns and deep characters in TW2 then ME 1 and 2 combined.

Go back to the kiddie Bioware forums. Mass Effect is for mids and 12 year old console gamers.

The fact you brought a Third person shooter with dialog compared to the witcher shows your most likely a Bioware troll, who is butthurt A small dev from piolnad has made a deeper, better PC rpg, then bioware has since baldurs gate.

Lol, I thought the same thing reading your post and couldn't help but think... "wow, what a fanboy".

OP made some good points. I just finished the game myself, I thought it was pretty good but I still thought The Witcher 1 was better. Story telling and the choice/consequence system was much better in the Witcher 2 but there are just so many oversites and bugs that it really brought down the overall experience of the game. I mean come on, how can you have a rpg without a storage system. It's stuff like that which I just don't understand.

LMAO, I see time blinds everyones mind, The First witcher had way more issues at launch, loads of bugs, long load times, and needed an Enhanced edition to really fix what was wrong with it. Not too mention a bad combat system. Sorry, thats a load of bull.

Every game can be improved, and I had no issue with no storage, stop carrying 25 Nekker heads............................ Sell stuff. Doesnt mean a game cant hav some annoyances and still not be great. OP is making small flaws, and spewing opinion as fact in an effort to make the game sounfd bad.

Reviews and player reception show otherwise.

Obvious bioware troll is obvious. He may have been one of the clowns posting 0/10 scores because they were butthurt metacritic was showing TW2 love, and Da 2 sucked.

Technically, it's not a sequel, in that it doesn't continue the first game's story.

mastorofpuppetz: WOW, idiots are everywhere,
Do you want to try editing that post again, see if you can squeeze in a few more logical fallacies?

I mostly agree with the OP the game sucks way too much in too many areas to be enjoyable. I had to force myself to play it through once (using a zero weight mod to avoid having to constantly traipse to vendors and micro manage inventory through the shitty user interface). I started a second play through to see the other main path and half way through act 1 I was so pissed off again I deinstalled it.

I pre-ordered based on my liking of TW1. Based on my liking of TW2 I won't be pre-ordering a TW3.

My only hope is we get an EE to give us the game TW2 should have been.

Yeah your in the minority, game doesnt suck anywhere there a some areas for improvement like any game. Again, gorssly exaggerating to try and make things according to your view. Game is getting praised everywhere for a reason.

When was the laast time a PC game sold this well outside a blizzard game? Been many years.

Good for you, many people played through it 3-4 times and loved every minute of it, want a cookie?

Only an idiot says the story is bad, especially compared to the usual bioware cliche's.

The OP complains the terrain is too detailed, LMAO, there is so much detail he took a wrong tuen OH NO. Maybe he's use to games likke DA 2 that have 1 area and recycle the same areas over and over. Sorry, he's an idiot.
