Just downloaded/installed a clean game, no mod, all through official download server. First launch gave me "Script compilation error - game/quests/quest_functions.ws[2282]:parse error, near '{' game/scene_functions.ws[1794]:parse error, near '{'"

Google and lots of the provided link download patch is dead, and some complicated procedures require download a modding program.

I just want to play the official version of the game, no modding required. Anyone can provide a easy solution? Otherwise, have no choice but to request a refund for unplayable experience.

Go to <Install path>\The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition\bin\ and run the 'configurator.exe' file. Set up your settings. In particular press the 'DLC Settings' button and disable everything. Try running the game again.

Did exactly the recommended, disable all DLC settings, still the same error. -_-'

I had the exact same problem.
Replacing "base_scripts.dzip" file in *Your Install Location*/The Witcher 2/CookedPC folder with edited one fixed it.
Because a lot of google searches downloads for this file is dead, I'm providing a working download link for easy access to jeggy786 and all others who'll end up reading this.

If you have no mods and a legitimate game you *do not* need to replace base_scripts.dzip. Plus, if it requires a password it's probably malware. Do not download spurious files from anonymous sources.

Correction: does not need third-party base_scripts.dzip downloaded from wherever. The file that comes with the installer is the correct file. His statement has nothing to do with my comment. Funny, I don't recall jeggy786 stating that. Again. funny that, because I don't see anywhere where jeggy786 said he/she was looking for that file.

This game has sold untold millions of copies (8 million in 2014). I wonder if all that multitude needed to download your file!? *shakes head*
