I have one but I haven't tried it as yet.
Is the game in general and the QTE controls in specific easier to use?
Is there a menu system to access the keyboard controls not mapped to it?
Can you use both the keyboard and controller to play?

I started off using the keyboard/mouse and have moved to a 360 wireless controller recently. I find it a lot easier to use so far.

Is the game in general and the QTE controls in specific easier to use?
for me, without question the controller is a lot easier to use, especially for QTEs. I'm playing on hard difficulty with 'hard QTEs' on. I just finished the 'underground' fist-fights Loredo hosts and I only got hit one or two times over the course of all the fights.

Can you use both the keyboard and controller to play?
No. You need to choose one or the other from the options menu. The controller isn't perfect (you can't scroll through long text entries in the journal for instance, or at least I haven't figured out how to). But the mouse cursor is still there, albeit invisible. So you can still do simple things like scroll through text by fudging around with the mouse. Inventory management is more difficult with the controller, but I'll put up with it as gameplay is a lot better with a joypad IMO.
I been using my ps3 controller to play and once you activate the game pad in the game option menu you cannot use the keyboard to play with Geralt, you can still use the mouse to move in the menu and the F5 key still does quick save.

The right analog stick works for me. I'm using a wired x360 controller.
you can only use either the keyboard or gamepad to play, not both. I've only played with gamepad so far.... when I've been able to play.... but the combat is fun on a gamepad, especially a 360 controller.

I am using the controller, but it doesn't work too well. Using menus is a total drag, the inventory is extremely bad. I haven't figured out how to play dice poker, because the button, that's supposed to re-roll, ends the turn.

More comlpicating is, that the "insert" key, which is supposed to be the quick switch for mkb/controller, doesn't switch.

While in controller mode, SOME keys work and while in MKB mode, SOME buttons work, but never all of them together. When in controller mode, you still need to use the keyboard to exit the game in the last menu, because here the controller doesn't work anymore.

I am very much struggling with this, I waste more time trying to use menus than actually playing, but I can't use WASD, so I have no choice. I don't see a reason, why BOTH input devices should not work together. I have a small hope that they will fix this in the future, but I know that they have more pressing issues for the next patch.

I don't understand how the devs used the controller so effortlessly at the presentations. Also, if would help if it was documented in the manual.

I lost the first time playing dice cause I couldn't figure out how to highlight the specific dice that I wanted to reroll, after I try a second time I found it was the square button on my ps3 controller or the X button in the X-box 360 controller.

Thanks!
And I'm off to the tavern to play dice. ;)
Imho, game is much easier to play with an XBox controller since combat resembles more an arcade action game than a proper rpg. (a bad arcade action in this case, since the targeting system doesn't work well wen you're surrounded with enemies in tight spaces. Not that I'm really playing, 15FPS makes it quite a challenge ;)

I thought that too, but at least in my experience the analogue stick doesn't work in those menus, but the d-pad still does.

In controller mode I still seem to be able to use the keyboard shortcuts to enter menus (map, inventory, journal), which is much quicker than pressing start and then scrolling down to choose one.

I don't like the inventory at all though - why did they have to make the selection highlight barely visible?
I've had no trouble with the gamepad so far (just into chapter 1). However, i believe you can only use the keyboard OR the gamepad, not both at the same time.

Yes, I know. That is why I put in a request to change that. However, as I said several times, it doesn't work completely; some keys work, some buttons work, but not all of them together and there can be no good reason for it.

Just now I despaired trying to brew potions with controller and ultimately abandoned it. If you just click on the formula and hit the brew button, the game takes the rarest and most expensive ingredients first, so you might wanna switch a bryonia for amethyst dust, but that one is first in the alphabet *sigh*. Then try to cycle through the ingredients... whenever I even hit the actual mixing part of the screen, it's pure luck and when I need to switch two ingredients, I need to randomly hit all the buttons until I have luck again... that is frustrating! Funny part: the mouse cursor is not even unusable, but it is invisible *facepalm*.

Yay! I just spent over 1000 hard earned orens... accidentally. Because the use of the buttons in the inventory is so inconsistent. Wanted to browse the shop with my eyes, not my purse. I really need that quick switch key for ANY menu related action, cause this is no fun.

You can't use both KB/mouse and controller enabled - which kinda stinks.
Many games, you can have both KB/mouse and controller enabled - and both work fine i.e. most of the PC versions GTA games since GTA3.
