Hey,

First post and all that jazz. :)

Anywho, I just played through The Witcher 1 solely to have a full save to work from for The Witcher 2.

I'd beaten TW1 multiple times in the past, but all on a previous computer, so no saves.

Anyway, the possible bug, I finished TW1 with roughly 25k Orens, and I know they aren't carried over, but I started TW2 with nothing, zero, zilch, nadda, nuffink.

In other words, 0 Orens, I was broke.

It's not exactly a game breaker, I mean, 500 Orens or whatever isn't hard to get farming some Nekkers and Endrega but makes starting off a bit slower.

Cheers.

Edit: Forgot to add, my swords and Ravens armour carried over, just not my money.

I'm not sure your money is supposed to carry over. The importing is actually rather limited; you carry over some items but they are much reduced in strength (as I'm sure you've discovered) and the game will acknowledge some of the choices you made in the first game. But I don't think money or anything else carries over. I imagine this is because the developers thought it would make the game too easy if you could start with a lot of money.

If it helps, you can just imagine that all of Geralt's money was confiscated in the prologue.

EDIT: Seems I was incorrect, and some money should carry over along with the items.

No I think it might be a bug. Some money is supposed to carry over and I remember it was in my case.

I agree, normally when I start without a saved game, I start with a small amount, between 300-500 Orens.

I also tried using a friends TW1 saved game to import, and it gave me 480 Orens.

maybe just a bug with the import this time, or something screwed up.

Ach well.

Edit again: I just started up a game fresh importing the same saved game and ended up with 280 Orens.

The only difference between this import and the previous one where I got nothing was that I done the tutorial on the one I got nothing (Call it a whim, I'd never done it before) so, maybe that bugged it out.

Back to slicing and dicing while watching the football. :)

Another edit: Started another new game with 292 Orens, I'm starting to think it's just a random number now, doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

My mistake, then. It's been a while since I played The Witcher 2 so I didn't remember if I'd started with any money. It was certainly less than 25k, though, but it seems that's expected.
Yup. If you import a save from the Ice Plains, or Order of the Flaming Rose you should get your Raven's armor, Steel and Silver swords and a small percentage of your orens to start your new game.

I have heard that those who used some kind of trainer or "oren-booster" in W1 could run into issues with their money import.

Typically, you should start with around 500 orens, maybe a little more or less, depending on the import save.

If you started with zero - something is wrong. Use another save.
