I'm left handed and so I typically use IJKL as my movement keys rather than WASD, with other actions clustered around the right-hand side of the keyboard rather than the left. I say typically, because occasionally some game like the Witcher 2 refuses to let me rebind certain keys because apparently they were hard-coded in. In the Withcer 2, J is one of those keys. So is I.

Okay, guys. Why would you ever program a game where certain keys but not all keys are remappable? There is nothing special about the way the J key functions that would make it difficult to remap. All the keys are the same! Is there any chance of getting this fixed?

I'm a lefty and I agree. Custom controls are vital. I suggest something like an el cheapo usb controller and a keyboard emulating program like xpadder. It's not a problem that has gone away and diy is the only real option.
Ugh... why is this a thing? Remappable keys should be a default part of the options. Some great PC games have been ruined for me because of this.

My giddy sense of impending enjoyment has been replaced with a sense of dread.

Except that the GOG version doesn't let you use Xpadder while Witcher 2 is running. The Steam version works with Xpadder though. O.o?

Here's the same problem:

I never heard of a left hander who doesn't use the standard setup :o I mean, I am a left hander and I never even thought of it as an option since the standard setup is 100% natural to me. Not that I'm saying "you should learn to play like I do", it's just a weird thought.
