Ok this weird i get no sound from my speakers in front and both at the back in my 5.1 setup, i´m using the onboard VIA HD sound from my motheboard and other games work perfectly in 5.1 so i dunno whats happening, it was working fine before, was there somekind of update regarding sound in this patch? i only have sound in the two speakers at front left and front right and like this i can´t hear any voices, i dunno what more to do really :(

EDIT: is there any config tool for sound in this game? i only see the graphic one.

Strange! I didn't get 5.1 at all in TW2. All sounds seem to come from the front and center speakers, no matter how I turn. I have an X-Fi Gamer, Windows 7 x64. In other games 5.1 is fine.

I have the same issue. voice was perfect before 1.2 now I can tuse 5.1 sound. I uninstalled and re-installed and it worked once. then broke on next run. This is nuts!

Hm... could be related to the newly introduced support for Logitech G35 in patch 1.2? They fixed something and broke something else.

Anyway, it seems that there are some problems with the sound system in TW2 and CDP has to fix them.

I found a workaround. If I have the sound card set for 2.1 when I start the launcher and then switch it to 5.1 before starting the game it seems to be working.

I only use my stereo headphones when playing the game but I noticed that after I updated to 1.2 the talisman sound was totally gone. No more "dagooon" sound, just the cool orange sweep effect :(

Did the launcher workaround posted by BladeFireLight work for you?

For me, 5.1, even 7.1 works fine with 1.2 EXEPT there now are no voices heard. The speech seems gone from the game, which is weird because I played for approx. 5 hours with patch 1.2 and everything seemed well. Until today, that is, when I loaded my last savegame. No more spoken dialogues.
Switching speakers to 2.0 does not help. Starting a new game (where the sound is OK!) and then loading a savegame does not help..

I am really sad, because I am now a witcher-addict.. but without the voiceover!? :(
