Hi all -

Took a break from playing W2 and recently jumped back in.

I'm doing The Eternal Battle - where I have to find four key items - a sword, armor, banner and medallion.

I have all four items. But when I enter the mist, Geralt turns into a common soldier with no abilities. He then gets owned by Draug.

What am I doing wrong? In ALL the videos I watched, everyone fights Draug as Geralt and not some common soldier.

Please help.

PS - I did do a search, but thousands of posts came up, and I couldn't find anything on this topic.

The part you are talking about where you see Geralt fighting the big armored guy happens much later on in the fog. You are at the beginning of it. Nothing is wrong with your game. The only advice I can give you is to be more careful when you fight him as you only have your swordsmanship for that fight.

Wow, so I have to defeat him with that crappy guy? A lot of people warned me about this fight. Thank you for the tip, I honestly thought something was wrong with my game.

This is not the Draug you will meet later. Link1264 correctly points out that you get to fight that one as Geralt.

The Draug that you must fight as a common soldier is the Kaedweni standard bearer. He's not that tough, but the circumstances of the battle are more difficult. My tactic is to take down the Kaedweni soldiers first. That way you can go after the standard bearer without the soldiers pushing you around.

The wraith you're playing is a tank in terms of the amount of damage he can soak up--he simply lacks thw Witcher's signs and abiity to leap away from danger. I found the battle quite easy--think of it as an opportunity to brush up on your swordsmanship skills.

As with most battles, the key is not to become surrounded and backstabbed,

That's a Draughir, a smaller version. Learn to read and pay attention. You confused yourself because you didn't pay attention. The Draug is the BOSS of that quest and it appears after you *SPOILER* take the shape of Selkirt.
