Just wanted to throw it out there that I really love the voice acting in the Witcher 2... was a big fan of the original game, but the voice acting was generally average to weak in most places in TW1.

However, I'm not finding any parts of the game so far where the voice acting sounds weak or unconvincing... quite the contrary, it's all really strong and well done.

I especially love the supporting characters... the voice actress for Triss does a great job and adds a level of personality that gives me a chuckle and grin.

The fella playing King Foltest really sold me on him being a believable king... charismatic voice, strong tone... just what you'd expect from a king.

Hell all the characters are just great (Geralt too... the voice actor did a much better job here than in the previous game).

Just wanted the devs to know the great voice acting (and lines of dialogue) is really appreciated... really engrosses you into the game, story & world.

Before the inevitable whines about one voice actor or another, just wanted to say I enjoyed the VAs as well. ;p And, especially before Triss and/or Letho get singled out by negative nancies, I really liked them too!
I thought the VA was outstanding, particular favourites of mine were Phillipa, Roche and Iorveth. The only one that didn't sit right with me was Saskia I think.
I liked the TW1 Zoltan/Triss VA's better and Iorveth/Kingslayer voice disappointed me some...but other than those small gripes, I think the voice acting was really very good in this game.

The only change I wasn't fond of was Zoltan. But they're about on par so you can't really count that as a complaint. Our friendly Bard sounded just as he should, charismatic and good with words in a way that would swoon a woman into bed with him. Triss was a nice change of pace. She had a cute, manipulative voice but could be very serious as well. Seeing the shift from concerned lover to threatening witch was very nice and incredibly believable from my standpoint.

Triss' took some getting used to. I'm all for those powerful and commanding female voices like all the other sorceresses (all the other female characters really) had, and Triss had in the first game, but it's nice to get something other than that for a female character sometimes, and I eventually grew to really like it. ;)

I loved Iorveth. That sneer practically oozed out of every word he said. He was great! Loved the Kingslayer for the same reason I loved Triss. Nice to do something different than the typical "bad guy" voice. Coupled with Letho's comments in the end about how easy it was for him to fool Sile (can't help how I look-lol), and I thought the voice complemented his character perfectly.

But, obviously, everyone has their own opinions. ;)

I agree, but, for Letho's size, I kinda wish he had a deeper, 'rumbling' voice. :D

Other than some reservations in regard to Letho's voice, I liked the voice acting. Even Triss' (she sounded 'cute', which kinda contrasted w/ her 'outdoor'/traveling attire).
Iorveth's voice, at times, reminded me of Alan Rickman (which is a good thing).
Well i am glad for one that i can speak and understand English perfectly, because the German voice acting and translation is sub-par - there is no good or bad voice actors there, they are all mediocre. And i don't mean they are "unskilled" or anything, i mean they are noticeable uninvolved with the script. I can compare to the English voice acting (which I really like, American or whatever accents, who cares!) so the voices in the German translation all do not fit the characters - globally, not one fits. (and the death penalty for the translation, adult women voices posing as children voices) maybe i am just particular in that way, but it really annoys the heck out of me when noticeable adults do children voices. It wouldn't be such an issue if you'd not spend half the first chapter being chased by children. (This applies for the English voice acting as well)

Now of course, German language can be tricky, particularly for words like "plough". In German the literal word for plough sounds so out of place (its too modern) that it really jars the experience, a bit of fantasy in the word choices would have done wonders, but no, they chose to translate literally. Sadly, thats not the only thing they translated literally.

Anyhow, English voice acting is very well done imo but could have used some more "smoked" (rumbling!) male speakers. German voice acting is mediocre.. and Germany has great voice artists. Why they chose not to use them, mystery.

Edit: But yeah, voice acting is hit or miss and for everyone different, its also relevant how much value you put on the voice acting

But, everything about him is supposed to play into the whole big idiot thing, which is why I think his voice was choosen for that accent on purpose. ;)

Again, however, voice acting is always a deeply personal opinion. :)
The new Triss VA does make sense though. I can't imagine TW1 Triss' voice on the new body. She looks a lot younger in this game compared to the other.
The actual voice acting quality varies a bit in my opinion, but as a whole, the English localization effort is very impressive this time around. The dialogue all sounds very organic, with nuance and wit, and not quite so flat and broad as TW1 enhanced edition.
Can anyone tell me who is the voice actor for the King ( H-? ) in Act 2? His voice is so similar to Nicol Williamson and the IMDB just lists all the folks as additional voices. Just wondered?

I can't agree with that. I think Triss in TW2 sounds like an actress in a grade B teenager movie. I don't think the actress they used in TW2 is very good; I don't like her at all. Also I think she looks way too young and inexperienced. Triss in TW1 was sexier and had a self-assurance that a sorceress of her caliber should have.

All the rest of the voice acting sounds pretty good to me, just not Triss.

I really liked voice acting in Polish version only except Saskia who sounds like she had a running nose :)
