Before any one complains I did read the other topic about the launcher not running and this is different.

I have yet to get the launcher to run. I can start the game through the .exe in the bin folder (after many many hours of messing around) but I can't set my graphics options etc. I have reinstalled the game many times and cleaned the registry many times with no go as well as trying all kinds of combinations of compatibility modes and admin privligages.

Also when I get the game to start, I get to the first dialogue with the guy in the prison and I cant select a dialougue option. I can press escape and select options in the menu but I cant get past the first dialougue. Game is unplayable. Any ideas?

Running:
Win 7 64 bit pro
i7 cpu @ 3.4 ghz
8 gb ddr 3 ram
ati 5870 gpu 1 bg ram

Same problem. witcher2.exe is fine, but the launcher doesn't work. I can't set my graphics options.

Win7 64bit pro
i5-2410M
8GB RAM
GT 555M
i have same problem
I am having the same problem.. for now you can run the configurator.exe in this location:

"x:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition\bin"

in the bin folder is the configurator.exe
This seems to be effecting everyone. There are over 20 people reporting it on Steam and many on the Witcher official forums and not a single person has chimed in that it 'works well for them so it must be your fault' as people always tend to do for whatever reason.

Doesnt seem to matter which version people are using either.

This says to me that the launcher is coded in such a way that if it cannot connect properly to its servers, it will not run. Sounds almost like accidental (?) DRM.

No, you're confusing the launcher freezing up on patches 2.0/2.1 with what's happening now. The launcher crashes if you're online, which would be the worst DRM scheme in existence. I'm betting that the thing that checks for patches and throws up the little "so and so is available!" graphic had a problem (since nothing changed on our end, chances are something went wrong with whatever it's connecting to) and is now causing the launcher to crash.

For now, turning off your internet solves the problem.
Just adding I'm having the same issue.

Same specs as OP.
