I'm playing on Normal difficulty and I'm at the part of the prologue where you have to take the balista, but I keep dieing. This is like immediately after you get out of the tower and it teaches you how to fight and they throw like 8 dudes at you right off the bat.

There are I believe 3 archers who will beat the crap out of you out of nowhere, and blocking is kind of sketchy.

Am I doing something horribly wrong or is the game supposed to be this hard?
In the meantime I'll start over in Easy mode. :(

half the topics are about how hard people are having at it. then later on saying getting hang of it, and its fine.

also btw, you can change difficutly in menu i believe and don't need to restart. so just change to easy till you get hang of it and then switch back to normal or hard

Don't worry! there are lot's of useful tips here:

If trying oyut all those tricks still leaves you confused and/or frustrated, try lowering the dif temporarily to "easy", no shame in that. Sadly the game lacks in the easy tutorial department, wants you to feel the awesomeness from the beginning.

Take a look at all the tips offered, in comparison to the first Normal is like Hard and above. Potions, Signs, Mutagens, and Oils required.

But on the flip side its easier to craft all items, potions included. Do not need to research anything, can start crafting potions in the prologue if you have the recipes and ingredients.

Once you get the hang of it, it will become extremely satisfying. However if you are still having trouble switch to easy and enjoy the story and atmosphere.
