It probably is your GPU at fault.

Ati gpu's don't support witcher 2 that well apparently, although i have NO PROBLEM whatsoever with my Ati HD 5870 and get very good framerates and stability.

Also you GPU is on the low side, and combined with a dual core you won't really be able to go higher then the low specs at best.

I'd suggest downloading your GPU's latest drivers, and if that doesn't work leave a message with the witcher.com helpdesk team.
video card is the problem
check out this site: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
if your card is higher than lowest spec you should be fine.
if you can't find your card on the list than get a new card.
The lowest spec is Geforce 8800

startatzer0: I bought the retail copy of The Witcher 2, I installed it and made my way through the dozens of company logos to the main menu, started a new game and imported my save from TW1.

before I go any farther I'll list my pc specs
Windows XP pro
Ati Radeon x1650 512mb
AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core Processor 5200 2.71 GHz
3.00 GB Ram

Ok the problem is that once i start it up on a new game I read the monstrum portrayal of witchers and the things on dwarves and elves. Then after that I know a cutscene should be playing but it's a black screen and the audio is the only thing going, and even that sounds like its lagging and not playing correctly, once all i hear is silence I minimize and bring it back up. I see Geralt chained up and the Guards fighting over poker dice, it plays through very slowly until I talk to the interrogator guy and i choose where to start my story (My mouse lags as I choose my dialogue, and the audio is out of sync), whatever my choice is again the only thing that plays is the audio, sometimes if I'm lucky the cutscene will show up for a few seconds, then get stuck with the audio still playing.

I have never made it to where I actually control Geralt. I never had so much of a problem playing other new games (mass effect 2, dragon age 2) as long as the settings aren't high, but I have all the settings turned down to the lowest they can go, and it doesn't seem to make a difference what they are set to.

I would really appreciate the help, i'm sure I should be able to play this game as long as I keep the settings low. I'm no expert or anything so i'm sorry if I didn't post all the needed information.
Thank you for the help guys, it looks like my video card might be the problem. It's disappointing because I was able to play a lot of other games released in the last year without much problem.
