When you guys play this, do you do roleplay doing what some character concept you made for yourself in your head would do, or do you roleplay thinking of yourself as Geralt & always try to do what you think Geralt would do?

In all the three Witcher games, and in games in general, I try to follow my morals as much as I can. I am actually completely unable to roleplay differently. I remember when Human Revolution's demo was leaked I began by taking different decisions from the ones that I preferred so that I didn't spoil too much of the game, but like 30 minutes in I gave up because it just feels wrong.

Unfortunately I couldn't connect with geralt but still completed the first two games. The second one recently during lockdown. The character alone is off putting due to various reasons and I heard that witcher 3 has an even tighter geralt embrace with him becoming a family man and stuff.. hmmm but supposed to be the best game of the decade so I will try that out sometime this year.
I've read all the Witcher novels and thus, I'm playing Geralt as I understood his character from them: a loner by more or less his own volition – how much choice has an alchemical mutant in a world that at the very best sees him as a necessary evil? He doesn't want to be part of the petty power struggles and intrigues of the "normal" people around him. Although being not much more than a superhuman sword for hire, he has his own moral code and usually discriminates between "monsters" that are truly malicious (not a few of them human) and those that only want to survive in an era that is more and more dominated by mankind. In social situations – apart from bewitch(er)ing the ladys – he often shows a certain understandible arkwardness and stoic stubbornness that tends to get him into dangerous situations. (Actually, it's really no surprise that some of his best and oldest friends are dwarves.)

Based on this impression, I try to be as fair and neutral as possible when playing him, but ready to retaliate swiftly and efficiently against any unprovoked agression – be it verbally or physically.
