Story wise, does it have a significant impact on the game? Or is it more just a couple npcs will acknowledge it in a line of dialogue or two?

I've played through twice now, with an import where I sided with the Squirrels, and a game where I didn't import at all.

I'm 99% confident there aren't any significant impacts on the game from anything you did in W1. In fact, the real impact is if you've imported, you'll start with significantly better gear that doesn't get replaced for half the game. Things were definitely a little more difficult, but rewarding since I actually had to work on upgrades, on my non-import playthrough.

As a squirrel lover, I did get some members of the Order talking down on me late in the game. But, my ego isn't easily bruised, so I was ok with that. :p

Yeah and if you sided with the order in the first game, the order can help you alot a bunch in late game.

Do the squirrels help you out at all or aid you in any way if you sided with them in the first game? How does the order help you if you sided with them? Just really curious as to how much the save imports affect the witcher 2. Any info would be great.

Mostly from what I've seen, most of your choices in the first game are acknowledged in dialog through out the game in the Wicher 2. There are a few examples of help like Sigfreid and the order helping you near end game to sneak into a place you need to be. I can't remember the Squirrel plot help though.
If you sided with the Scoia'tael in the first game, Siegfried isn't present in Chapter 3 of TW2 (because you killed him in TW1). If you didn't side with the Scoia'tael, then Siegfried is there.

I'm surprised and highly displeased that all the help I gave Yaevinn didn't seem to make Iorveth trust me even a teeny, tiny bit. I'd have thought that siding with Yaevinn would give me an "in" with Iorveth, but he calls me "dh'oine" and hates me guts, anyway. Very disappointing!
