Ok hang with me on this. I have bought the retail version of the game and have been playing it great prepatch 1 and 2. However I felt it was time to install the patches, so I tried to download them from Witcher website and it wouldnt let me install the patch. I cant remember what the exact error was but I read that if you did a fresh install the game would automatically install, I am a noob at this, so I thought it would be best.

I uninstalled the game but kept the save game folder. I then reinstalled the game using the disks. I believe the game auto updated to patch 1.2 but when I try and run the game I get a cannot launch error or something like that. I am at work I would give you better info.

Basically, the start up menu pops up, the game tells me how many cores i have and the settings I can use, it will let me adjust the graphics but any time I try and start the game I get this use the witcher launcher command and nothing happens.

Anythoughts?

Thanks for the link but if I may ask follow up questions. I am not sure at what point I am at in his fix. It sounds like I need to delete everything and then manually install the patches one at a time while disconnected?

Is there no easier way to do this? Whould I have better luck deleting everything, including saves?

Let me add this. When I first got the game I used the key code given for the copy protection. However, when I reinstalled the game, I didnt put anything in that field thinking it wasnt needed because the security was removed. Did this screw it up?

Any suggestions would be great, I am not that computer savvy so the fewer manual installs I have to do the better.

Thanks
You need to post the full error messages when you get home so that we can have a better idea of what's going on.

Did you try running the game form the witcher2.exe file located in the Bin folder?

If you right click on that file and go to properties, what game version do you see in the "details" tab?
I have the same problem. Details show game version 0.0.0.0
