Like the topic title says, what use is food in Witcher 2?
Witcher 1 was vitality regen.
Probably useless since they are labelled under junk. Not sure why they have NPCs selling them at all.
Yeah I had negociated a discount with a guy just to find out he only sells food. Haha what a waste of Axii Sign.
I was about to ask the same to be honest. It would be nice as an alternative to potions, but if you couldn't find the time to down a potion during combat, the likelihood of eating a whole ham is pretty far fetched.

EDIT: It would be cool if the food could be used either as bait, or during meditation with a 30min small amount of vitality/endurance regen.

*SPOILER warning*

It is really funny! Once, I purchased Apple in hope of giving it to the Troll near the bridge :P I thought that could solve his alcohol (vodka) addiction! But, it is just such a waste!

You should've given him a red herring.

Troll eats red herring no. No red herring.
And here I was thinking it was just George Lucas in disguise. Guess it really IS a real troll.
The question still begs to be asked why even have food vendors? why not just have the innkeepers sell booze...um... Hey! Who took my ability to drink?

Exactly! Witcher 1 had uses for food items. Ignoring their use and still making them available with innkeepers... is strange. Unless, the developers wish for us to actually "role-play" in terms of eating food just for the sake of it!
Have you seen what the food looks like? I don't blame Geralt for not eating it! I'm not sure if even folk in the Middle Ages would eat food covered in so much mold...

Have not seen any uses for food but let's hope a few modders clear this issue in the near future. Some great mods already to be had!!!

It strikes me that there was going to be a food mechanic similar to the first game, but it was abandoned at some point, and they just left the vendors in for flavor.
What would the good folks of Flotasm eat, if there were no food vendors?
