I'll start off by stressing that there might be minor spoilers, although I'll try to keep it as vague as possible. Don't continue reading if you don't wish to learn of the game's progression!

Although I was in the unlucky camp when it comes to performance issues and whatnot, I was still determined to play the game to its end - and now three or so days later, I finished the final act of the game; leaving a bittersweet taste in my mouth. Sweet in the way of the strong storytelling, absolutely amazing visuals and gameplay but bitter in the way that's it over and the fact that I, in retrospect, feel underwhelmed by both the ending and the latter acts. I'll explain.

The game started off strong, no doubt - the prologue was fantastic, and the first act equally so. Flotsam was everything I wanted from the game, with multiple side-quests and great story progression. As the story moved on and I got to act II, I felt that the monster-hunting aspect of the game took a backseat and heavily shifted its focus to the main story leaving little to do outside of the main objectives apart from a few solid side-quests. The environment in this chapter was underwhelming in terms of scope, especially as I feel that they could've done much more with it given the circumstances (in regards to what was plagueing the land.)

My biggest gripe with the game has to be the last act, with the epilogue being no more than 20-40 minutes in length. They were both over way too quickly, and offered little to be found if you strayed off the main path - being the story.

Now I won't say much of the ending, but I feel that it was seriously underwhelming. The Witcher 3 is a certainty. I'll leave it at that.

TL;DR: Strong foundations and the first two acts were fantastic only to wither the further you progress.

Took me about 30 hours, with a lot of tweaking and general asshattery included.

Thanks for your "review" But i'm curious didn't someone mention there's suppose to be more than one ending?

Perhaps there's other "better" endins you can try?

It seems like the game is following a standard formula on how to make acts in games nowdays. You make the first acts pretty long and then you sort of skip over the 3rd act towards the end.

Will you play the game again, how's the replay value in your opinion?

I completely agree kerrazy, I made a similar topic not long ago:

It feels like cdprojekt ended the game early, missing a couple of chapters (at least), hopefully they're keeping that open for DLC so we won't have to wait another few years for Witcher 3.

Now don't get me wrong. It's a fantastic game in terms of story-telling. I will probably play through it at least twice more to explore all of the different branches - and with that said, the replayability is amazing. My gripe with the game is that there isn't all that much to do on the side.

Just one question: did you rush through, not completing all the available sidequests, or you didn't sleep at all? :) I'm asking because I played W1 for 68 hours, for like 2 weeks...

I didn't rush through it, but the number is just an approximation. It could've been more. I explored every settlement and did all side-quests I found apart from two monster contracts.
