Is it possible to get this item in chapter 3, or do you need to save it from chapter 1? I need it for the encrypted manuscript quest, but I've either sold or dropped any I had before. Thanks.

You need to save it from chapter 1. As the quest giver says, all the ingredients he asks for are impossible to find in chapter 3.

Your clue that those ingredients are important, btw, is that they're marked as "quest items". That's why I didn't sell them, anyway.
What about all the "Trophies" you end up with? I keep thinking that there ought to be someone who will want them - besides selling them to a normal trader for a couple of orens...

The trophies are meant to be equipped actually. There is an inventory slot for them and they give some decent bonuses, depending on the monster type.

Wow. I never realized that. Thanks!
The problem with this is the alchemy tries to use these ingredients. If you're not careful, it'll get broken down.

It's a shitty thing I hope they fix.

Damn it this is exactly what happened to me stupid crafting system used up my pheromones when I wasn't paying attention. I hope they can make them unusable for alchemy in an update
For heaven's sake, this is so annoying. Why does alchemy automatically use, without notifying you, quest items from part 1 that you can't get in part 3? I'm sorry but that's incredibly stupid. I find I don't have the pheronomes, I presumably used them at some point, and there's no way I'm reloading a save to go back 20 hours.

EDIT: Actually there's a mod here which allows you to buy that ingredient. Hurrah!

Note: If you've already started the quest, then read the comments for the mod carefully, as you have to delete the mod halfway through.

Here's a fix to add
Queen Endrega's Pheromones x1
to Bras' items for sale, he's the npc that gives you the quest in the first place."

Update to 1.2 The issues with the Alchemy/Potion loading has improved immensely. You should still be careful, though.

Hi, I recently heard about pheromones and very excited to know about it.

Does it really works ? if yes then what is the best resource to buy it?

Thanks in advance!

I keep trying it and I buy one, and when I go to leave the store page the game crashes to desktop. Did the latest update screw that up now?
I agree, that was bad programming. I don't sell any of that stuff and if it's not in my inventory then it means it got used to make a potion, and if it's a quest item it shouldn't have been able to be used.
For any of the one off ingredients, which should be clear if you pay attention, just put them in the inn's storage. They are preserved there throughout the game.
So this thread got bumped by spammers, but there is a way to get this in chapter 3 too, at least on Roche's path (not tried Iorveth's). When helping that lady out of town in chapter 3, there is a place with 3 egg sacks. Destroy all 3, and a queen endrega will show up. Kill it, and get your pheromone.

You can do this after you have helped her escape the map, so you don't have to worry about her getting killed by the queen or other endregas.
