Just a quick vid I made of killing the dragon in 30 seconds on Hard.

Dragon in 30 seconds.

Technically it's like 35 seconds of combat time because FRAPS lagged me out so bad I couldn't case Igni very fast :D

Shows what Mage Geralt is capable of. Thanks for watching :)

And there I thought you were exaggerating when you mentioned this in the other thread. Well done.

By the way, I presume you reached the end of Alchemy tree to get all 5 mutagen slots and invested in Catalysis + Impregnation for this build?

congratulations! do share your skill build and potions that you drank. the screen too small to see which you selected :).

lol but it seems to break immersion.. wasn't dragon supposed to be immune to fire? i buy it if it was Aard :)

I thought I should probably put my money where my mouth was :) The build has 7 mutagen slots: I could have taken 3 out of Swords to get 3 more slots in Alchemy, but Footwork and Schemer are awesome, and I don't think Berserk applies to sign damage? (if it does, that might be a good choice though).

Hah yes, it's very odd that enemies such as Letho have more resistance to Igni than the dragon!

I wish there was a Witcher 2 skill calculator webapp. The build is 12 in Signs, 12 in Alchemy, 3 in Swords and of course 6 in Training.

For signs the important skills are 2/2 Destructive Magic, 2/2 Magic Intensification, 1/2 Magical Vigor, 2/2 Enhanced Igni, 1/2 Sense of Magic, 2/2 Control of Power. Everything else is prerequisites.

For Alchemy the key skills are 2/2 Catalysis, 2/2 Impregnation, 1/2 Taster, 2/2 Condensation. For swords its just 1/2 Footwork, 2/2 Schemer. Training you must get 2/2 Fortitude and 2/2 Vigor Regen.

The potions are Lapwing (+82% vigor regen and -9% vitality with Catalysis), Tawny Owl, Petri's Philtre and Swallow.

Your build is pretty much as optimized as can be. No, Berserk do not add to sign damage nor does it increase vigor regeneration.

Nice work! I like the mage tree the most too but I usually put spare points in swords for early game fun, but your build certainly seems powerful! :)

Oh yeah, I like the soundtrack too :P

Igni is the best spell you can get as it does a lot of damage, is ranged so you don't need good armour, enemies that are on fire can't attack you, and it's very effective against groups. I used it to beat Letho without taking any damage.

what was wrong with just leaving the sound untouched. its poor form to switch audio out for music, but to use THIS music... ugh... muted.


also... purely just spamming igni... not what i expected to be honest :(

I'm really impressed, you have really achieved a playing deed. Congratulations.


Now I know for certain I am quite a clumsy player, it took almost 15 minutes for me to slay the dragon -although I was playing in Hard as well, I had not distributed my skill points as well as you and I didn't get one of the silver swords you can obtain in Chapter 3, the Zerrikanian one and other such as the High Quality Metheoritical Swords as I was lacking of certain ingredients such as silver, and I couldn't gather enough pieces of silver ore-.

You can actually buy silver ore from the merchants there. If they run out, just meditate for 1-2 days and they will restock.
