I could be wrong, but I remember reading this somewhere. I reinstalled TW1 over the weekend anyway, with my old saves. However, I have TW1 for Steam, but am getting TW2 on GoG. I'm assuming there will be no problems importing?

As long as the saves are in the default folder you don't even need the game.

Thanks for the quick reply!
Glad to be of service.
And what exactly does this change about the game? Are we getting the weapons and money we previously owned? Or are the decisions we made in TW1 imported? What exactly are the consequences of importing our previous save games?
CDPR has said that some items (Raven's armour, money, maybe more) will be given and there will be differences in NPC interaction. They didn't say much more, really. They seems to want it to be a surprise.

It seems like the autodetection is busted on Windows 7, sine the full path is C:\Users\<user>\Documents\The Witcher\saves
