It only helped me with the buggy DLCs. The game runs about as good as it did with the retail version + GOG w2.exe, but I'm experiencing slowdowns - after playing for about half an hour I get a 10-20 FPS decrease for about 20-30 seconds, then things go back to normal. It happens no matter where I am, I guess it's a memory leak. I didn't have that problem prior to the 1.1 patch.
Meh, as much as I love this game (i'm on my fourth playthrough now), I hate all those technical difficulties that keep occuring.
I have the GoG version and an underpowered processor. The patch gave me a bit more stability and improved the framerate. I still need to upgrade, but it's not as painfully obvious as it was before the patch.

revial: Unless you're brand new to the internet, you probably know that people without problems are far less likely to post than people with them. ;p
this! also, at first I was disappointed a bit as I had or still have some micro stutter when running, but I got used to it or something... at least there are no major breakdowns anymore due to removed drm and obviously npcs don't drain that much ressources anymore, which is the main reason why 1.1 is currently the best, imho.

So yes, 1.1 helped me with the performace. Still not too satisfied, but it's playable now.
I'd be interested to hear experiences from people with a HD5770 videocard, there seemed to be quite a few of them around here earlier.

I personally saw no noticeable performance improvement with said card, while several other models seem to be getting good improvements from pre-patch. I'm wondering if the 128bit memory bus (which is quite an outlier in modern cards) of the card is really proving to be a significant bottleneck in it's performance.

I'm running a 5770, and while there's not a huge boost, I'm getting considerably less stuttering.
For GOG version - helped me w/ now able to remap Arrow keys for movement.
also, gpu usage with drm 1.0 was max 50%, with gog exe 1.0 was between 50% and 80% and with patch 1.1 it's constant 99%. Seems quite fixed in that regard.
I have GoG version don't use gamepad yet!! and only an occasional stutter.

Should I use the patch and if I do how easy is it to undo or what precautions should I make so I may revert to prepatch.

I'm not sure about the Troll head, I haven't done it yet, rather I'm in the midst of it?

As far as I know, GoG (and possibly Atari's digital version) are the only two that can easily revert to 1.0, assuming you're semi computer literate. I was helping someone with retail try an incredibly convoluted way of rolling back, but they never got back to me on whether it worked or not, so even if it is possible, it's not something most Retail owners would be able to do.

Our 1.0 Launcher doesn't have DRM, and so it doesn't try to connect and Activate, which is the part that retail versions end up automatically downloading and installing 1.1 again after re-installing.

Thwip: ...Only things I noticed is the game loads faster. Now 15ish seconds before screen goes black. Was 60ish+ before.
That's about all I noticed, too (other than the options under configure). Then again, I'm not an FPS junky so I have no idea what I was getting before or now.
YES! With the keys remapped, I can now actually play.

thefarawayroad: I seem to be in the same boat, mostly.

GOG version, i7 2600k, 4GB RAM, ATI 5870. I didn't have too many issues with the game prior to the patch - Troll Trouble DLC downloaded and worked for me just fine prior-patching. I had some random crashes (exit to desktop) when leaving a house. Not sure if it has been fixed or not with the patch; it hasn't happened since.

BUT - some of the villagers in Flotsam are still NOT WEARING PANTS. I think this is a hilarious bug. My girlfriend walked over and asked why the fishmonger was only wearing underwear. LOL.

revial: They're shorts. Someone actually explained the correct medieval term in another thread, but I forget what it was. It's not a bug. :p
That was me. The shorts are called braies and were a standard garment for men in the middle ages. http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/no_pants/post8 Upon closer look, I see that most of the "pantsless" men do actually have their chauses, (leggings) they're just rolled down, presumably because it's summertime and it's hot. I know most people probably think it's incredibly funny, but CDPR is merely being historically accurate. (they do mix and match time periods and fudge things a bit, and strayed from history for the elves, dwarves and sorcerers/sorceresses to be more fantastical, (which I think is good) some of the armor is also not from history, though other armor is. overall it's the most historically accurate approach to fashion I've ever seen in a fantasy game. they clearly did a lot of research)

I didn't see much improvment, btw. but I have the GoG version. I do notice that response time when bringing up the menu is faster, but nothing major.
