So it's been a long time since I re-played this game but I'm sure I've never had this problem before. When I walk Geralt is locked in that animation and I can't do anything else, he keeps on walking. When I press ESC it comes up 5-10 sec later.

I have had this issue twice now, right before the ballista scene and during the fight to open gates to the monastery where I'm at now and it still keeps on doing that. I tried verifying the game but the problem is still there.

Yeah I think it's my keyboard. I tried another game (Saints Row 4) and I get the same problem but as soon as I switch to my gamepad it works fine.

Update: I don't have the game installed anymore but I encountered this problem in a couple of other games as well so this should still apply.

It seems my antivirus program Avast was the cause of this, which is really surprising to me but looking at their support forum there were other people as well who had some sort of keyboard problems. After uninstalling it and playing games for almost a week I haven't encountered this problem anymore. So in case you have a similar problem, check your antivirus program or other similar programs that modify/enhance your system.
