Hey, I was one of the unfortunates who purchased Witcher 2 before learning about the country switching feature. I'm stuck with the censored Australian version and was wondering if there is any way to uncensor it? CDPR has talked about a "fan patch" that should be arriving around now; has anyone heard anything?

CDPR talked about it. I don't think they really gave an ETA, nor do they plan to do it themselves. They gave a guess based on other game releases for countries like Germany. Probably to shut up the masses like me who purchased before reading the fine print. :)

I have a US copy coming so I'm going to compare and see if I can come up with anything. I have a lot going on with work so someone else will hopefully get around to it first. :D

Is it actually censored? I thought they mainly changed some scripts so you didn't get to "choose" to see boobies as a loophole through which the original complaint from your incredibly repressed governments was that gamers could choose to see boobies.

That's what I thought, but they removed the option and set the default no choice option to refuse sex.

It's insane because my gf uses sex to get me to do all kinds of menial tasks in real life. I had to kill 10 drowners just last night. :(

Maybe I should refuse sex like the government want me to then they can listen to my gfs complaints...

As soon as someone finds out which files are the script files and how to edit them, we'll be able co compare two script files: the AU ones, and the regular. Downhil from there. I've been poking around the files a bit, but I'm not that tech savy :-(

After the nth time of having my responses selected for me, I have stopped playing. I'll just have to wait for the patch.

It probably would not have bothered me except that I know my choices are being made for me.

I do believe there is only one instance of having your choice taken away from you, and that's the only censorship.

Still, I want it uncensored because of the principleof it.

I'm equally sure the dungeon is not the only place it happens. It occurs during the Succubus quest. I'm inclined to believe that the Elf outside town, Act 2, is another instance of the game making the choice for you.

I didn't realise there was going to be censorship from the GoG website... is there a way to tell if I do have the censored one? Because there's still nudity and naughty words in mine...

What if you change your country after purchase and download it again? Will it give the same version?
If nothing else, you can find a huge patch, actually the whole game, uncensored at any torrent site. You already bought the game, so I don't think it's piracy... :) It's you civil liberty to route around censorship. :)

It'd be nice, but I'd still be adding to the piracy statistics... Oh well. I'm patient. =]

If your account profile was set to Australia when you purchased the game, then you have the censored version (albeit minor censorship, supposedly one quest reward choice being made for you).
In your GOG account, TW2 will have AU after it if it is the Australian version.
I'm assuming you will have this given you are listed as Australian.
Afraid not. It has to be when you made the purchase.

I'm hoping for a "fan" patch soon. I'm not playing the game atm mainly because I'm waiting for a patch (that and I dont have a lot of free time anyway). I'm hoping its just one of the little files around the place that needs replacing, but searching through all the standard config files nothing jumped out at me.

Can't really download an internetional version to investigate it (unless someone wants to lend me their log in details for a day so I can download it and inspect if any files are different between the Aussie version and the international version ;))

Apparently it was only one quest that was censored.
