Hello,

I'm trying to run the Witcher on a Macbook Pro that meets the hardware requirements and is running OSX 10.7 and have run into a problem: I just got the game from the current promotion, downloaded the Mac version using the gog downloader, and tried to launch it - instead of launching, the game icon bounces up and down in the toolbar for several minutes and then freezes. The game doesn't launch, there's no audio, etc. I'm not getting any error messages or anything either. I tried deleting everything and re-downloading the game, but it still isn't working. Is this something others have run into? Any idea of how to work around it? Thanks!

EDIT:
If it helps, I looked in the terminal and saw this

Good day to you DashiellFarewell;

From the Console snippet above it appears that you are trying to run the game from within the disk image (*.dmg file). Have you tried copying the game out of the dmg file into your applications folder or somewhere else on your computer and then running it from there?

Another thing you can try is to download and install XCode to see if that makes the CoreText framework available.

Have a wonderful day!

I'm not sure why but the only way I can get The Witcher to work is when I mount the disk image, THEN launch the game. If I try to open it normally, like every other program, it just sits there bouncing all day. So search for "the witcher" in your finder, open the "mountable drive", leave it mounted while playing, then open the game icon.
I figured it out - apparently it will only launch if I right-click on the icon, select "View Package Contents" and launch directly from the Wine icon. On that note, I thought this was a native port, not running on Wine. That would explain why the game can become really laggy even on mid-range settings. I wish GOG would note which games were running natively on Mac and which from Wine, especially for potentially hardware-intensive games. I'm still really enjoying the game, though!
