Hey guys,

Sorry for that "noob" question, but when I try to use the Aard sign during the day, it never works... Only by night. Is this normal?

Thanks for your help.
You can draw your sword and use sings when the surroundings are dangerous. Look at top-right corner, near the map. There's a "clock", or rather a sun or moon image. If it's marked with red scars, then it's dangerous there and you can draw your swords or use signs. Generally nights are more dangerous than days, more monsters creep in the dark. Of course you can still use signs during the day, provided you are in battle.

As Minamir mentioned, some areas are safe, some or dangerous and in case of some it depends on the time of day, (like the outskirts in the first chapter and on the streets of Vizima) and you cannot pull your weapons or use signs in areas that are safe.

However, it's not a general rule that daytime is safe. Many areas are dangerous even by day and you will sometimes stumble upon enemies in safe areas which temporarilty grants access to weapons and signs.
Aaaaah ok thank you very much for your help guys! I thought it was possible to use weapons/signs at any time... Also, even when I was fighting, sometimes I had no sign selected and nothing happened when I pressed the right click. I understand now.

Thanks again. The witcher is a deep game, I love it.
Not being able to use signs in safe areas becomes extra annoying when you want to light a campfire with Igni. Fortunately flints are easy to come by, but it's annoying to have to carry them around all the time.

Agreed. Then again, usually already lit campfires area nearby so it's really not that big a deal, IMO. During my last (and first complete) playthrough I didn't use a single flint. And as a matter of fact I didn't ever feel that much urgency to use a campfire in the first place.

On the highest difficulty setting, I wanted to make new potions and oils often, which was my main reason for seeking out campfires. That and leveling up.

Yeah, I also played on hard (as mentioned in the other thread) but sadly enemies still seemed too weak. Not once did I use a temporary boost on my swords and also only used two bombs throughout the whole game because both times they didn't seem to have any notable effect. So yeah, I really didn't use campfires too often. And a few times I actually ran around with nine or more unspent talent points.

I'm not that big a fan of mods but I'm pretty sure that next time I play the game I'm gonna use the FCR mod.
Right now, I am at the beginning of act III and I just passed level 15. Is it ok or should I be higher ?

My characters will often make 20 by act III, and others will strive to be higher than that, but 15 is no problem.
Some quests from Chapter II can still be completed in Chapter III as well, so you can still get XP from completing them.
Hi,

I just finished this amazing game and I wanted to thank you all for your help :) In the end I was level 32 and I leveled up a lot intelligence, strength and the Igni sign... It was a bit too easy, I was able to kill every enemies with igni alone... Great game anyway, I'm gonna start The Witcher 2.

Glad you enjoyed the game! The Witcher 2 is also great.
