Hi! I'm currently playing Witcher 3 in PS4 and I love it, I had postponed this game way to long. The game brought me here to play Gwent and now I found myself with a free Witcher enhanced version. Is the game good? I'm more of a story player guy than a challenge or action gamer. One of the things I love about witcher 3 is the "I'm here for the story" game difficulty mode, it's awesome. I've read Witcher is kind of harder. Is it? Well any tips you can give me to see if I put this list on my "next to play" list. have a good one. see you around in Gwent.
If you are "more of a story player guy", you will like it.
Witcher 1 is a more classic RPG than Witcher 3. It uses a modified version of Neverwinter Nights engine and you can feel it in the gameplay. It's even possible to turn on the isometric camera. Character progress is more complex than in W2 and W3 but it isn't hard to understand. Although the game is more oldschool than W2 and W3, it isn't as difficult in overall as you would expect it to be. You should have no problems on the lowest difficulty setting. It's worth checking out how the start of the series looks like and how it developed in the following years.

I think it is really worth it! The story and characters are memorable.

You can select the easy difficulty mod, which shouldn't give you too much trouble. The Witcher 1 my first western RPG, so if it worked for a newbie like me, I am sure it will work well for you.
First things first: it's NOT Witcher 3, nor anything like it (Witcher 1, 2007. Witcher 3, 2015). The first game is EIGHT years older and the only thing they have in common is the story (you're a "story player guy"). Now, I'm not knocking this game in any way because it's a great game. The only thing is, as most new players quickly discover, the controls are not intuitive and are difficult to get to grips with *at the start*. If you persevere, however, that quickly becomes a non-issue and you'll be slaying monsters left and right before you know it.

Your question was, "is it worth it?" Abso-bloody-lutely. Buy it!
Thanks everybody! Guess I'll play it after I'm done with Witcher 3 (If I ever let the game go lol). I got a promotion to get witcher 2 for 2.99 not bad, maybe I'll try that one also. all in all I got Gwent 1, 2, 3 (complete edition) and Gwent for less than 25 dollars. I used to spend that in a month in hearthstone.
Check the whole series. If you're a story-type guy then you will like all of them. I consider Witcher 2 as the worst in the series, but it's still a great game. It's definitely worth playing at least two times.

I believe you can actually still get a free copy of it like I did. There's an article just posted only the day after your post that confirms it is still around.
I think it is. Just started playing it and I am amazed at the graphics. I always preferred the direct view where you are facing the opponent and not the overview where you see your characters like they are under a miscroscope. But I notice that while I can switch cameras from direct to overview, it will not switch back. thus, I am very dissapointed and had to reinstall the game. but it starts out with the camera mode I want.

story seems very cool and well developed. It is very cheap, worth it and also comes with some separate side stories-not sure if these are from fams? But yes, its well worth it.

It should be just a matter of pressing a key (I think F1-F2-F3 to rotate between views).
maybe :D
i too have a similar problem.. have put in approx. 4 hours in TWEE..
not been good enough to hold my interest...
dunno if its combat rules or general directionlessness of the game..
folks were hyping it over the internet.. got to be something inside it :)
would it make sense to continue?

Definitely. In my opinion the game kicks off for good in the second chapter. The mechanics of the game are of course the same until the end, but the story and quests gain a lot after the Outskirts of Vizima. In chapter two you'll encounter one of the best quest lines in the whole series (the one involving Raymond). It's even worth playing the game only the experience this single great piece of quest writing.
