...with buying The Witcher on GoG...

I live in a fairly rural area, miles from the nearest exchange. My Broadband speed is deplorable... Until the weekend, my download speed was rarely above 60 kps, frequently below 30. A couple of weeks ago, I lost phone & Broadband altogether, and it took almost 2 weeks to get Broadband back, as bad as ever (the phone was back the same day). Occasionally I'd hit 100 kps for a few seconds at a time... I complained to my provider, and lost it altogether... But once I'd got it back, it was up to a magnificent 160-200 kps! Hoorah!

The Witcher took a mere 20 hours or so to download (partly before the speed increase)... Worked fine, too, integrity checks passed fine. I got a quick test game in after installing last night.

Shortly after the download completed, within minutes, I figure, I lost internet. I seemed to still have my Broadband connection, just no internet (according to the lights on my router). That was still the case this morning. I look forward to getting home from work and finding out what happens next...

This had better be a good game...

I hate to be you!! I feel your pain!! Keep us posted I think there is light at the end of your tunnel ...and I think it will be a great game..
I used to have the same limitation (4 miles from a telephone exchange and getting ~1.5mbit at best).

Unfortunately you're unlikely to see a drastic improvement without the customer base there to justify an upgrade :p

Anyway, enjoy the game :)
Hope you enjoy the damn game :)
Well, my router is dead entirely. I'll buy a new one today, and hopefully get back online after that. Access from here at work is sorely limited!

Meanwhile, I've tried the game out. Highest resolution is too much for my laptop, but a couple of settings at medium does it. I haven't tried the main storyline, but a few of the additional scenarios - the dialogue is... well, not Shakespearean...

But it does look very nice!

yeah well if you are playing with the english voiceovers...let's just say it's not perfectly translated sometimes lol
Thaty's annoying... When I look at my last post on the fiorum, I see the word 'limited' repeating... but when I try and edit it, there's just the one

EDIT - give praise to the great God Belkin, for he is great and good, and gives generously to his subjects.
