Games playing fine except for random "freezes" followed by a black screen.. only lasts a few seconds generally before continuing.
Just wonder what could solve this as it`s abit annoying.

With an ATI/AMD card, it sounds like a driver reset. If the driver encounters a fault, it tries to reset before giving up and crashing. It often succeeds.

One cause of driver resets is overheating. Any 3850 has been around long enough to pick up a serious infestation of impacted dust bunnies. Get something like MSI Afterburner that can monitor GPU temperature while you're playing, or get Furmark and let it run (it has a stripchart of GPU temperature).
Bingo! Did have a feeling it might be a dust issue.
Card was running abit hot, i took a can of dust off to the card & comp this morning that halved the temps.
Seemed to be able to play without problems at the moment..
