As per the title really. I've been playing through my disk version of The Witcher Enhanced Edition which is all patched and up to date but the damn thing keeps randomly crashing on me on Windows 7 x64 and because of the silly save system, regularly "quick saving" adds another game save which can increase the chance of crashing meaning I have to all but empty my save folder constantly. It's not a corrupt game installation issue or Fragmentation issue either, it seems a fairly common problem.

Anyway my question is.... is it still a problem in the downloadable GOG version? I've already purchased it but I don't want to waste time downloading it and installing it if it's going to have the same issues, I may as well just keep my disk copy installed.

Noticed no one had replied to your post. I recently bought The Witcher Enhanced Edition while its on promo, can't beat that $4.99 price. The crashing has been a bit of an issue for me, though something's screwie with my hardware, so hopefully it wouldn't be the same for you. Originally I didn't have much problem with crashes, I only got the occasional freezes without a crash (though that happens with all my games). The second or third day I played it though the crashes started getting a lot more frequent. I installed D3D Overrider and turned on forced Vsync after finding it listed as a possible fix. It played beautifully with no crashes for freezes for 3 or 4 days after that, but in the past couple days the crashes are back. I doubt it would be the same for you, but thought you'd appreciate some feedback all the same.

You might try running the game in windowed mode. Fixed the crashes for a lot of people.

The other thing to check is if you have too many savegames. The Witcher does not overwrite quicksaves so you will get a lot of save files. You can find them in My Documents or My Games, with obvious filenames... just back them up somewhere and then delete a bunch.
