Hi only found this game late 2019 and love it it especially the mechanics as oppsed to witcher 2 and 3 (yes im an older gamer). Could anyone recomend similar type RPG of this era worth playing

I'm thinking we have similar tastes (as I agree with your statement about the mechanics). I recommend Sacrifice, and the original Prey (2006).

Gothics perhaps (FPP camera style), Enclave (its more like action slasher rather then rpg game), Elder Scrolls series, if you don't mind shooting rpg games try Deus Ex, it is really a good game (all of deus games anyway).

But remember there is nothing better than witcher :) You can always give a shot original books The Witcher written by Andrzej Sapkowski, stories described in them takes place before events from the games (and the books were first, theyre pretty old now)

The Witcher 1 possibly the best RPG of the era :) Alternatively, you can try a very specific Pathologic 2005.

The Witcher used a moddified version of the Aurora engine used by Starwars:KotOR and it's sequel. Both are well worth playing and available on gog.com
There has literally never been anything like it.
Risen feels a lot like The Witcher 1, visually and gameplay-like.
