Hi all.. I bought this game today but i don't have a CD key or serial.. Is this normal? How do i register the game if i don't have a serial?

You don't need a serial key - same goes for all GOG games I've bought, if I remember correctly. Just install it and play it. :)

Well you run the launcher and one of the options is Register. However, the servers are down now as they upgrade the website for the launch of The Witcher 2. There's no practical need to register it as far as I know, unless you're installing the patches (which you don't need to with the GOG version). As for requesting a saved game... Well isn't that kind of pointless since it removes the need to play the game? Well either way, if you want to do that for some reason, you can probably just google for "the witcher saved games".

You can contact Support and they will probably give you key for that reason. However, it's Sunday so don't expect an answer today.

Thanks i've sent a message to support. Hopefully they will provide me a serial or CD key as i believe every game purchase should come with a CD key so we can register the game and have further privileges from it.

Don't hold your breath bro, I have been trying to get a key since it came out.

you won't get a cd-key. I emailed them and their reply was.

Publisher of The Witcher (CD Projekt) decided that, since our games are
DRM free, there is no need to include a CD-key in our version of the
game and did not provide us with any keys. Registration does not bring
any benefits so you are not losing anything. Happy gaming :)


Other than accessing the official site forums there was no point to registering the game anymore(it not going to be updated anymore or anything) I am guessing that after the forum reboot you won't need to register to use certain areas for witcher 1.

That's kinda bad for people who support them. They should provide CD keys and allow us to register the game in the forum.
