Hello,
I just purchased a copy of the Witcher and I have a slew of questions.

Firstly I need to update my graphics card. According to canirunit.com
"NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX or ATI Radeon X1950 XT or better recommended"
These graphics cards appear to no longer be produced. Is there something comparable I could pick up on a shoestring budget?

Secondly: what mods are recommended? I've heard horror stories about the controls and combat.

Lastly: I've played Witchers 2 and 3 on Console so I would prefer a console controller. I've got the hardware but I've tried the Pinnacle software to no avail (will not run on Windows 10 and the website no longer appears to support the product) Are there any alternatives?

The only games I've played on PC are NwN and Vampire: Redemption/Bloodlines.

Thank you very much for helping out a noob.

I've played this game with a Radeon HD6350 with 512MB memory (quite an old card) with no problems. I use Pinnacle all the time and they do still support/sell there product.

For me the controls were good. The manual explains it pretty well. The combat is unlike any other game I've played but it worked for me. You need to switch between different weapons (mostly steel or silver swords) and choose the combat style that best applies to your current foes (fast/heavy/group), then click at certain intervals (the mouse course changes to indicate when to do it) to perform increasingly more powerful moves. And then there's the signs, which you activate holding the right mouse button (hold longer for a more powerful version of the sign). In some aspects I actually liked this combat better than the one in TW2.

That being said, there is a mod that is often recommended by players who didn't like the original mechanics: Full Combat Rebalance.
