Hi folks

Desperate for help - about 27 hours into Witcher 1 (decided to play all 3 in a row). I normally keep two saves going, and delete the other ones for HD space etc.. However, on crushing the queen spider thing near the end of Act 3, I overwrote the one saved game I had at the time.

Fine, I thought - no worries - I'll loot the remains of the queen and move on. However, there is some debris (some of the roof scaffolding that crushed the queen) in the way, preventing me from looting her - I can get to a couple of feet from where I need to be but no closer. I can't progress now as if I can't loot her, the passage behind will not open. I don't get to play much so it's taken me almost 3 weeks to get this far - the thought of starting again is kinda depressing!

When you delete a saved game - from the in-game option to do so - is it possible to retrieve this at all? I know the saves are kept within My Docs etc. but what does the game actually do with those files when it deletes them?

I'd be extremely grateful for any advice or help
try using the Aard sign on the debries to clear the way
I have a save not far from where you are in Act III if you like. I didn't attend Shani's party and I chose Triss for Alvin, Saved Abigail, and I think those are the only major decisions to this point that still have an effect on the game to come.
