I really like how the Witcher's world is more real, physical and believable than the typical Fantasy setting and yet also has the feeling of fairy tales (the dark originals, not the cheesy, saccharine Disney reimaginings). Most Fantasy stuff seems more like an attempt to rewrite LotR, yet missing many of the key points of it. The Witcher is more like a story set in renamed Medieval Europe countries where grim fairy tales are true (but not always). It sort of ends up feeling more like a horror story set in the past rather than typical Fantasy.

The point is, I was wondering what films (or even TV series) have a similar feel to it? I like how a lot of it brings peasant superstition into it, like the noonwraiths and devourers and what happens to certain characters in Chapter IV. The Wickerman has a similar feel, the old pagan beliefs mixed with a realistic and believable story (policeman goes to investigate missing people). I'm really focusing more on the pagan-based horror/Fantasy stuff of chapters I and IV rather than the more Victorian horror feel of II and III. I don't mind what language its in as long as there's a subbed version out there, nor do I mind how old or cheaply made it is, as long as its good.

I guess if I had to sum it up: Films that feature realistic or semi-realistic takes on old (European) pagan myths, preferably in a Fantasy setting but a modern thing like The Wickerman is fine too. Even if they're not actual pagan myths from our history, if it has that Witcher feel, it's great too.

Game of Thrones. Show and the books. 'Nuff said.
Lots of F. W. Murnau. I'm thinking especially of Sunrise, which has a fairy-tale quality to it even though it doesn't reference any particular fairy tale.

definitely game of thrones
You should also note that there is an actual witcher tv show that follows the short stories. Unfortunately they have never released the show on dvd .(or in english for that matter) So you will have to look for it online with fan subbing.
You can always look for... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0300657/ :)
I wouldn't watch it, seriously. I love the books and Witcher games, but the film and show were disastrous. The screenwriter asked to be removed from the credits before the premiere.
I agree about Martin's saga - great, very mature story.

IV chapter is also my favourite, the story of sisters is based on Polish classic tragedy "Balladyna" with a fantasy twist added to it and I love the way they did it.
