So I've reached the Epilogue once more...

For some reason, after I defeat the King of the WIld Hunt, I can't seem to be able to loot him. I'm pretty sure that in whatever version I played one or two years ago I could...

I've tried reloading saves a few times, tried waiting around up to 2-3 minutes, but nothing seems to get me out of combat so I can loot him.

I even tried overdosing on Fisstech/Booze, but after fainting a few times the Wild Hunt's remains disappeared.

Is this a bug? Does not having the Wild Hunt's Vapors have any impact on imported saves for The Witcher 2, or simply the fact that I chose to battle him counts? Or perhaps it doesn't have any impact at all? (I don't want any actual spoilers, just to know whether this matters in any way.)

My experience has always been that you cannot loot the King of the Wild Hunt. After you defeat him, you get the cutscene where you finish off the Grand Master, then you wake up in the Cloister courtyard.

Anyway, the recipe for Vapors of the Hunt is not in the game, and there is no potion you can make from it (and no chance to meditate). I do not believe it has any use in TW2.
Then perhaps it was a bug that allowed me to loot him back when I played The Witcher for the first time, or perhaps my memory is playing tricks on me.

It may be an Original vs. Extended Edition thing. I never played the Original version, but there were many changes, including dead-end possibilities that were cut off.
I know the reason for this. After you defeat the king of the wild hunt, the grand cleric is still technically alive, and when you are in range of him, you will automatically go into combat mode (and thus cannot loot him). But if you make sure his remains are left outside the auto-combat area of the cleric you should be able to loot him. I have not verified this myself but I am 99% sure this is the case.
I would really like to know if it's worth the trouble of doing this though (kiting him to the edge and making sure he stays there as he dies)- if it will have any effect in the sequel, because I noticed that a lot of my inventory was still there in TW2, and I don't want to miss out on something I should have gotten. :P
It is no bug. You stay in combat because the Grand Master is still a living "creature" near you.
However looting the King of the Wild Hunt is possible even in the current 1.5 patch of enhanced edition.
You simply have to run away from the spectral boss towards the farthest ice wall that block your exit from this "arena".
Once there, jump over him, or make him cornered there.

Use whatever method you like to finish him off.

Stepping near the fathest wall of ice, you exit combat, and are able to loot the remains.

Sadly there are no longer any recipes for his looted reagent.
