Hi there,
I don't know if I the only one (I guess not), but I can't run the game The Witcher Enhanced Edition. I've an error box telling the d3dx9_35.dll is missing. However, I've already the last version of DirectX (the 12th one, my computer is very new, on Windows 10), and there isn't update availiable on microsoft support. How can I fix it?
Thanks a lot for your answers.

You need an old version. Go here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
Download the runtimes to a temporary folder on your desktop & run DXSETUP.exe
Once it says installation complete (see pic) you can delete the folder from your desktop.
Edit: Don't worry, it won't effect your newer DirectX files.

Thanks. But in fact I jus downloaded the missing .dll and I put it in the The WItcher setup folder, and it seems works now. I really thank you.

I'm also having this issue, where did you download the missing .dll from?

From here. It's a french website, cause I am (sorry :) ), but it seems serious and without malwares .But I think the solutions given previously is better for the game. Indeed, replace this missing .dll didn't fix any problems . For instance, I have no pictures in the saving menu, and I guess there will be some others little bug like this all along my play.

Generally speaking, it's a bad idea to simply find a .dll file instead of doing a full install of the legacy DirectX drivers. While it seems to be working for you this time, often it will not, and it's safer to just have an installed version of DirectX 9.0c as olnorton suggested.

Note that many older games (not just The Witcher) require this, so it's a good idea in general. And, as olnorton said, it's simply a legacy version for older games and will NOT affect your newer directX that's used for modern games.

Hi olnorton,

Thanks for your help. I've done as you said and I no longer get that error. The attached image helped.

For others, once you unpack the download you need to find the DXSETUP.exe in that folder, there are a lot of files but its there. I wasn't immediately clear on this as I missed olnortons attachment the first time.

Also once this was resolved I got a different error message that said 'Warning: Minumum system requirements not met!".

I'm not sure what minimum requirement I am not meeting, my computer isn't that old. Anyway this is easily fixed by following the instructions in this post here which I will repost below for completeness:

https://www.gog.com/support/the_witcher/error_on_launch_warning_minimum_system_requirements_not_met

Games Supportthe_witcherError on launch: Warning! Minimum system requirements not met!
Problem / question
Error on launch: Warning! Minimum system requirements not met!
Solution
For Windows:
To get around this issue, please go to the game's folder: (...)The Witcher\System\witcher.exe and create a shortcut to witcher.exe.
Right-click the shortcut and go to its Properties. In the Target textbox next to the path type:
-dontForceMinReqs
There should be a space between the path and the switch, like here:
"(...)System\witcher.exe" -dontForceMinReqs
Confirm with OK. Now when you run the game from this shortcut the Witcher should stop announcing that the minimum requirements are not met.

For Mac OS X:
Please go into your Applications directory. Right-click The Witcher.app, and select "Show package contents". Go into the Contents directory and open the Info.plist file.
Find this line:
Program Flags
Underneath it, you will find this line:

Change the second line to:
-dontForceMinReqs
Save the file and try launching the game now.

Side effects: The side effect of using this switch is that texture quality setting won’t be usable any more. Using this low texture fix may help.

Read this thread, it might get you around the low graphics.
