I have following problem: when I try to launch the game (through GOG Galaxy and directly from both launcher.exe and witcher.exe) I encounter “Application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005)” error.
I found advice somewhere on this forum to rename witcher.exe to something else, and while this allows me to launch the game directly from an .exe, I still can't launch through GOG Galaxy.
I already tried reinstalling the game, forced windowed mode, compatibility modes and still no luck.
Any ideas?

It's a permissions issue. Something is preventing the game from starting and this is usually security software, like antivirus, Windows Defender or maybe even firewalls. Check all.

I checked antivirus and Windows Defender, game still crashes.
So far I figured out some workaround (maybe it will help someone else):
• I renamed witcher.exe to witcher1.exe,
• in .info file I changed "path" value to "System\\witcher1.exe" and added "isPrimary" set to true in JSON object with "category": "game".
• in .info file I changed "isPrimary" value to false in JSON object with "category": "launcher".

Now the game launches directly without launcher, doesn't crash and GOG Galaxy tracks play time.

An indication that something on your system has certain file names tagged as suspect and is preventing launch.
