I'm trying to make some space on my hard drive and I just bumped into +600mb of adv files in Users\Public\Documents\The Witcher. Google says they are mods for TW1, but I'm not sure how they got there and why. Are they perhaps a leftover of the installation process, like the few GB of crap the old GOG installer left on my user profile folder? Can I safely delete them or does the game need them to run?

While I'm using the Steam version, it came with some other user made adventures (probably from the Enhanced Edition). If you go to New Game -> New Adventures and see some things there, those would be the .adv files you mentioned. Unless you think you'd play them, they're not part of the core game and can be safely deleted.

Thanks, any idea as to why they are not within the game folder though (or simply under Users/username/documents)?
Simply where the devs decided new adventures could go I guess. If they were in the main folder, do you think you would've singled them out for deletion?
kinda shitty decision by the devs.
game files should always be limited to the game folder.
Why don't devs ever use logic!!??
