It's unlikely but will there be any sort of refund for buyers of the current season?

On top of that GOG would have to adjust the wording on the store page.
It was the last time I've bought an unfinished game...
Pure fraud, they're still selling it.
If at all possible it would be nice for the Season Pass buyers to get a refund. The developer is unable to give us all the four episodes so getting the money that the last three episodes would have been worth seems fair.
This is the original article:

What a shame. The recent releases were mediocre at best, but the latest Walking Dead episode seemed to be the best and most polished thing they put out since Tales from the Borderlands.

There could be upcoming, unfinished games that are better (in your taste) then every finished game and you would just boycott them due to this incident.
→ Not really reasonable, you should overthink your conclusion.
Until official word is given take all other posts about the situation with a grain of salt.

That was the last official statement by the CEO of Telltale Games. I suggest everyone to keep eyes on his Twitter, or the offical Telltale Games Twitter page for offical news.
EDIT: Ignore this, apparently what I heard was completely incorrect, false hopes sadly

Well, I'll buy them, when they're done. Indeed, there are a few awesome forever "early access" games, but all of them have an ending, so basically they're complete, just missing some promised features.
But then, some books are unfinished due to the author's death, and they're still classics... From this point of view, maybe it was worth it.

There must have been egregious mismanagement at Telltale. This is just crazy!

It really seems like they should be able to cobble together a proper end, even if it's just tacked onto the end of episode 2, but I very much doubt that will happen. The way this whole thing went down leads me to believe that episode 2 will be the last. Very unfortunate.
A lot of people are going to feel burned by this. Preorders are risky enough as it is. This feels like when someone runs away with crowd funding money instead of delivering.
I am super sad that we won't get the ending...

Well Skybound https://www.skybound.com/contact-us/ will have to find a new developer to license the rest of TWD aka Rob Kirkman, I imagine we will get episodes 3 and 4 by another developer because the license probbably expired, I emailed them

Don't give up hope yet:

Multiple potential partners have stepped forward to express interest in helping to see The Final Season through to completion.
