I've been replaying this game on GOG and it's still great, but I felt like something was off. When I got to the Djinn merchant and couldn't haggle the price down to 4 coins I knew something was definitely wrong.

I've been doing some investigating and it looks like GOG has version 1.0 of this game. I have old floppies with version 1.2 of this game in my collection, which changes (among other things) the ability to negotiate the price of the Djinn bottle. Is there some place I can mail them so that GOG can update their game to the newer version? Unfortunately I don't have a floppy disk drive to read the disks, and haven't for many years, but if the disks are still readable I'm willling to give it a shot and mail them to GOG.

Thanks for mentioning the patch, wouldn't have known about it otherwise.

I have managed to find it online (I'll try to post the link if the forum lets me), but the site it is on seems to be on the verge of a digital oblivion so I would recommend backing up the files.
